I.1. Website objective
The European Directory of Notaries (EDN) is a single website (www.notaries-directory.eu), on which the national directories of notaries, already being available to the public in several countries of the European Union, are published. The aim of this directory is to enable European citizens to easily find a notary in Europe. This information is available in all the languages of the European Union.

The use of automated systems or software to extract data from this website for commercial purposes, (‘screen scraping’) is prohibited.

The European Directory of Notaries, its specifications, its technical and operational specifications, its development and sources are the property of CNUE.
I.5. Creation of links to www.notaries-directory.eu
The website authorises the implementation of a hyperlink to its content, provided the technique of ‘deep linking’ is not used, unless express authorisation has been granted. In other words, the pages of the website (www.notaries-directory.eu) must not be interleaved in pages of another website but be accessible by opening a window. The source must be mentioned and a hyperlink will point directly to the targeted content. The information is only for personal use or the use of associations or professionals; use for commercial or advertising purposes is not allowed.
This authorisation does not apply to websites that disseminate polemical, pornographic or xenophobic information or information that a majority of people would find offensive.

The CNUE (“data controller”) respects and is committed to protecting the privacy of notaries and visitors to this website in full compliance with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data.
II.1. Information about notaries
- Collected information and origin
The information about the European notaries on the website is communicated by the respective national chambers of notaries.
- Purposes of processing
The purpose of the website is to provide citizen a platform on which they are able to easily find a notary in any country of the EU. At the same time, It will be possible to find a notary who speaks his or her language in another country. The data from the Directory also allows notaries to find a colleague on the site of the European Notarial Network.
- Storage periods
Your data will be stored as long as you hold the appointment as a notary.
- Lawfulness of processing
The processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest which is stipulated in the statutes of the CNUE.
- Recipients
The recipient is the European Commission who publishes the Directory on its website.
- Verifying, modifying or deleting information
If you want to inform the website owner that your personal data has to be modified or deleted, you can email the data controller at the address below : info@cnue.be or you can request the modification or erasure of your data directly to your national organisation, since the latter is required by Article 19 GDPR to notify us of these changes so that we can integrate them into the European Directory of Notaries.

This cookie management policy applies to the website. These are managed by the CNUE, Google and Hotjar.

The website uses two types of cookies:
Essential or technical cookies: these are cookies essential for the operation of the website, enabling good communication and they are intended to facilitate browsing; Essential cookies help make a website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot function properly without these cookies;
Statistical or analytical cookies: these cookies make it possible to recognize and count the number of visitors and to see their browsing behaviour when they visit the website. essential cookies are generally kept 1 day,

II.3. Security of personal data
The CNUE implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of personal data.
To protect the security of your data during transmission (between national organisations and the EDN), we use state-of-the-art encryption techniques, such as SSL).
II.4. Plugin and tool
Google maps
The EDN Locator uses Google Maps API from Google Inc. to show the location of notaries' offices on an interactive map. When using Google Maps on the EDN website, user information and a user's IP address will be transferred and stored on Google's servers in the USA.
Under its data protection Policy, Google does not pass this information on to to third parties, but does make exceptions to this rule. This means that data collected in this way may be provided to third party where such is required Under USA legislation or where such data is processed by third parties on Google's behalf. More information on Google Inc.'s data protection policy: http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/.
You can also disable Google Maps to stop your personal data from being transmitted to Google. To do so, disable Java Script in your browser. Please note that doing so means that it will no longer be possible to use the EDN locator.
The use of Google Maps is in the interest of making our website appealing and to facilitate the location of places specified by us on the website. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art.6 (1) (f) GDPR.
